ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Lynn Henn, Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin. Absent: None
Moved, by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to approve the minutes for March 5, 2001 the revenue and expense list for February 2001 and the agenda and claims list for March 19, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Jake Durbin requested to speak at the Open Forum, Jake read an apology letter to the Mayor and the City Council.
Tony Redling requested to speak at the Open Forum about his Eagle project for Troop 157. The Troop will be putting mulch around Vision 2000 trees. Tony informed the Council that Troop 157 will be selling bags of mulch and the profit will be going into an endowment fund. Tony asked the Council if the city would be interested in buying mulch for this project. Mayor Jaquis requested Tony to contact Gary Hightshoe and Gary Steel to find out how much mulch it would take and what color of mulch to use. The Mayor asked Tony to contact the City Hall once this was done to be put on the agenda.
No other citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum and no written comments were received.
Moved by Lynn Henn, second by Fred Vogtlin to open the Public Hearing for Ordinance 275, Amending the official zoning map of the City of Gilbert, Iowa, provided for in section 6-5.0401 of the Gilbert, Iowa City code book. Motion declared carried unanimously.
No citizens were present regarding Ordinance 275 and no written comments were received.
Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to close the Public Hearing for Ordinance 275. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to approve the third reading and adopt Ordinance 275. Amending the official zoning map of the City of Gilbert, Iowa provided for in section 6-5.0401 of the Gilbert, Iowa City code book. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to approve property tax exemption at 127 Christian Petersen. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Mayor Jaquis discussed Road Use revenue with the Council.
Moved by Lynn Henn, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to contribute 30.00 dollars to Story County Planning and Zoning. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Mayor Jaquis explained to the Council that City attorney, Frank Feilmeyer filed a dismissal for the lawsuit that Rolph’s filed against the city.
Mayor Jaquis informed the Council that the Public Hearing for the adoption of the 2001-2002 budget and the amendment of the current budget will take place at the April 2, 2001 Council meeting.
Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to appoint Steve Knutson to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Motion declared carried unanimously.
