MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

MAY 21, 2001

 
CALLED TO ORDER: 7:04 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis


ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Lynn Henn, and Fred Vogtlin.

 

Absent: Peg Uthe

 

    Moved, by Lynn Henn, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to approve the minutes for May 7, 2001, the expense and revenue for April 2001 and the agenda and claims list for May 21, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

No citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum and no written comments were received.

 

    David Dougherty and Russ Stammer from WHKS & Co. were present to give a proposal for a water rate study for the City of Gilbert. Russ explained to the Mayor and Council many details as to what the study includes and what information they will need and what the finish product will be.

 

Russ stated that the city’s rate structure is fairly easy and not complicated and that we should look at a study on sewer also. He explained to Council the benefit of a sewer study.

 

     Moved by Helen Gunderson, seconded by Chris Benda to accept WHKS & Co. to do our water rate study and sewer study as per discussion. Motion declared carried unanimously

 

      Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to open the Public Hearing for Ordinance 277, Amending section 2.1-2.0602 adding a stop sign south on Ammerman Street. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    No citizens were present regarding Ordinance 277 and no written comments were received.

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded Lynn Henn to close the Public Hearing for Ordinance 277. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Moved by Lynn Henn, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to approve the second reading of Ordinance 277. Amending section 2.1-2.0602 adding a stop sign south on Ammerman Street. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to adjourn at 8:07 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
