MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

JUNE 4, 2001

 
CALLED TO ORDER: 7:00 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis


ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson (arrived at 7:01 p.m.), Lynn Henn (arrived at 7:50 p.m.)

Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin.

 

Absent: None

 

    Moved, by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Chris Benda to approve the minutes for May 21, 2001, and the agenda and claims list for June 4, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Brian Bradley requested to speak at the Open Forum. He presented to the Mayor and Council an updated map of the PTO project of the playground at the elementary school. Brian wanted to find out if there were any comments or concerns from council.

 

No other citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum and no written comments were received.

 

    Tony Redling gave an update of what his Eagle Project will be doing on Saturday June 9, 2001.

 

     Mayor Jaquis proposed to gives Gary Steel an addition 1% more than the cost of living for a raise.

 

     Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Chris Benda to give Alan Hanson and Dianna L. Schmidt the cost of living raise of 3.5% and to give Gary Steel 4.5% pay raise. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

     The Mayor and council had discussion on water billing.

 

    The Mayor and council discussed Squaw Creek Water Shed Program

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to open the Public Hearing for Ordinance 277, Amending section 2.1-2.0602 adding a stop sign south on Ammerman Street. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    No citizens were present regarding Ordinance 277 and no written comments were received.

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded Peg Uthe to close the Public Hearing for Ordinance 277. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to approve the third reading and adopt Ordinance 277. Amending section 2.1-2.0602 adding a stop sign south on Ammerman Street. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

   Mayor Jaquis discussed with Council, newsletter and web page policy. Council member Gunderson volunteered to gather information on guidelines from other cities.

 

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
