ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Lynn Henn, Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin.
Absent: None
Moved, by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to approve the minutes for June 4, 2001, and the agenda and claims lists for June 18, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Charles Jones asked to speak at the Open Forum. Charles discussed with the Mayor and City Council that he recently tore down his house and at that time discovered that he was not hooked up to the city’s sewer. He stated that he has been paying for sanitary sewer to the city for many years and feels that he should be reimbursed. Mayor Jaquis offered to waive the sewer hook up fee for reimbursement. Charles Jones stated that he would have to think about it and would inform the city if he would like to put it on the agenda for the next Council meeting.
John Dickerson, coordinator for Habitour asked to speak at the Open Forum. John wanted to let the city know that the Habitat for Humanity bike ride will be coming through Gilbert and stopping at the Banford Park on Saturday, June 23, 2001.
No other citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum.
Dick Struve was present to discuss the sidewalk that runs across his property. He explains to the Council as to why he has not replaced the sidewalk. The Council presented their concerns as to why the sidewalk should be replaced. Council agreed to let Dick put a cap over the existing sidewalk. Dick reassured Council that he would get the job done by June 25th, 2001.
Council discussed donation for FCCLA Gilbert High School students.
Moved, by Peg Uthe, seconded by Chris Benda to approve the Law Enforcement contract. Motion declared carried unanimously.
Moved by Lynn Henn, seconded by Peg Uthe to adopt Resolution 368, Approving Street Light Installation. Roll Call Vote: 5-0. Resolution 368 declared adopted unanimously, signed by the Mayor and hereby made a portion of these minutes.
Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to adjourn at 8:12 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
