MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

CALLED TO ORDER: 7:03 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis


ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Lynn Henn, Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin.

 

Absent: None

 

    Moved, by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Lynn Henn to approve the minutes for June 18, 2001, and the agenda and claims lists for July 2, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    No citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum.

 

    Dick Wright was present for the Gilbert Elementary School. He explained to the council where the school was putting a new parking lot in at the Elementary. He presented a map to council, which indicated that part of the property, which is being used for the parking lot, is city property, but will not affect the width of Park Avenue.

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Chris Benda to wave the sewer connection fee for Charles Jones to reflect credit for sewer payments already made to the City. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Chris Benda to approve property tax exemption for 219 Stumbo Circle and 124 Christian Petersen. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Council discussed when to have the next Council meeting in July. July 16, 2001 was agreed upon.

 

    Moved by Lynn Henn, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to approve the agreement with Cline, DeVries & Allen for consultation on bookkeeping. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    In General discussion Mayor Jaquis discussed a proposed bid from Diller Electric to add a light timer, light and outlets to the shelter at Bandford Park. Council agreed that this would be a benefit for people using Banford Park.

  

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Helen Gunderson to adjourn at 7.35 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
