MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

AUGUST 6, 2001

CALLED TO ORDER: 7:01 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis


ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin.

 

Absent: Lynn Henn

 

    Moved, by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to approve the minutes for July 16, 2001, and the agenda and claims lists for August 6, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Sargent Barry Thompson from the Story County Sheriff’s Department spoke at the Open Forum. He asked if Council had any questions or concerns.

 

    Mayor Jaquis thanked Sargent Thompson for checking in with the City and mentioned that there has been some concern with some Gilbert Residents as to firecrackers being set off in the City limit. Sargent Thompson informed the Mayor and Council that there has been very few calls coming in lately.

  

    No other citizen requested to speak at the Open Forum.

 

    Donald Blauw was present to discuss with the Mayor and Council the situation of his vehicles on his property. Don informed Council that all of the vehicles that he has on his property are licensed and running.

 

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, second by Helen Gunderson to approve the Evangelical Free Church gathering at Lions Park on August 18, 2001 from 1-3 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 

    Council agreed to have the City Clerk write up a Resolution for the next Council Meeting to transfer 25,694.61 from the Road Use Fund to General Fund. To transfer 9.51 from the General Fund into the Utility Deposit Fund.

 

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Chris Benda to adopt Resolution 369, Setting salaries for employees of the City of Gilbert, Iowa for fiscal year 01-02.

Roll Call Vote: 4-0

Resolution 369 declared adopted unanimously, signed by the mayor and hereby made a portion of these minutes.

 

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Helen Gunderson to adjourn at 7:35 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
