MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

 
CALLED TO ORDER: 7:00 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis

ROLL CALL: Present: Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson, Lynn Henn, Peg Uthe and Fred Vogtlin

Absent: None

    Moved by Fred Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to approve the minutes for October 1, 2001 the funds report for September 2001, a revised revenue and expense report for September 2001, the agenda, interim claims list and claims list for October 15, 2001. Motion declared carried unanimously.

    No citizens requested to speak at the Open Forum and no written comments were received.

    Mayor Jaquis and Council discussed and reviewed the preliminary plan for Village North Sixth Addition with Rich Lepper, Developer and David Doughtery, Engineer with WHKS.

Mayor Bob Jaquis informed Council that at the October 11, 2001, meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Commission Members had voted to approve the preliminary plan for Village North Sixth Addition.

    Moved by Lynn Henn, Seconded by Fred Vogtlin to approve the preliminary plan for Village North Sixth Addition. Motion declared carried unanimously.

   Moved by Chris Benda, seconded by Fred Vogtlin to request floodplain changes from FEMA for village North Sixth Addition. Motion declared carried unanimously.

    Moved by Peg Uthe, seconded by Lynn Henn to adopt Resolution 374: Authorizing 1,000.00 dollars be taken from the general fund and contributed to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for relief and restoration efforts following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Roll Call Vote: 5-0

Resolution 374 declared adopted unanimously, signed by the Mayor and hereby made a portion of these minutes.

    Moved by Lynn Henn, seconded by Peg Uthe to adopt Resolution 375: Approving the contract for library services with the Ames Public Library.

Resolution 375 declared adopted unanimously, signed by the Mayor and hereby made a portion of these minutes.

Council Member Gunderson presented a memo to the Mayor and Council on dates that Tim Shield’s is available to come to Gilbert. Council discussed the dates and decided on Saturday January 5^th, 2002.

Council Member Gunderson also spoke briefly on the issue of having some guiding policies for doing council business.

    Moved by Fed Vogtlin, seconded by Peg Uthe to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
