MINUTES OF THE GILBERT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

GILBERT, IOWA

CALLED TO ORDER: 7:02 P.M. at City Hall, by Mayor Bob Jaquis

ROLL CALL: Present: Craig Allen, Chris Benda, Helen Gunderson & Peg Uthe (arriving at 7:12 p.m.).

Absent: Lynn Henn

     Moved by Allen, seconded by Benda to approve the minutes for March 4, 2002, revised revenue and expense report and funds list for February 2002, agenda, claims list, and interim claims list for March 18, 2002. Motion declared carried unanimously.

 No citizen requested to speak during the open forum.

    Aaron Steel with Story County Planning and Zoning was present to discuss the County Development Plan. He informed the Mayor and Council about the process of the plan.

    Sue Cosner and Gary Reiners of PMRG were present to discuss planning issues with council.

    Mayor Jaquis discussed Wellhead protection plan with council. He informed Council that this plan would be protecting potential hazards around our well.

    Moved by Allen, seconded by Uthe to engage in the Wellhead protection program. Motion declared carried unanimously.

    Council discussed laying sod on Banford Park easement.

    Mayor Jaquis and Council discussed many issues on driveway approach depth. Council seemed agreed to bring this item back to the table at the April 1, 2002 Council meeting to be discussed after some issues are looked into.

     Moved by Uthe, seconded by Allen to open the Public Hearing for Ordinance 279, Amending Prohibiting Parking on a part of Thompson Avenue. Motion declared carried unanimously.

No citizen was present to speak during the Public Hearing.

    Moved by Uthe, seconded by Allen to close the Public Hearing for Ordinance 279. Motion declared carried unanimously.

    Moved by Uthe, seconded by Allen to approve the second reading of Ordinance 279, Amending Prohibiting Parking on a part of Thompson Avenue. Motion declared carried unanimously.

    In General discussion Council member Allen asked to have on the agenda for the next Council meeting discussion on appropriate ways to contact the city attorney.

    Moved by Allen, seconded by Benda to adjourn at 8:28 p.m. Motion declared carried unanimously.
