J.B. Knacker, LLC  This business was originally operated once a month during the warm weather season at a barn on a farm southeast of Gilbert. However, it will now have a new look and new location, opening on November 15, 2005, in the old General Store at 123 Main Street in Gilbert. J.B. Knacker specializes in antique and vintage pieces and is known for having funky finds at fabulous prices. The store has a flea market atmosphere and will be open five days a week.   Story County Freecyle is a Yahoo Internet group where visitors can find free items and registered users can post items they want to offer free of charge.

The focus of Story County Freecycle is to cover the communities in and around Story County, and anyone else in Central Iowa who wishes to travel to pick up the treasures. The goal of the group is to reduce waste by connecting people who are throwing away unwanted items with others seeking the same items (and have a little fun in the process). No item is too big or too small; but since it is a FREEcycle list, ALL items must be 100% (that's right, you got it) free.

The Suburban Restaurant was established in 1963 by Bernice and Maurice Cox. It is currently operated by Susie Lyon and Diane Cox. They own the place with two of their sisters. In 2004, the Suburban was voted by the Iowa Pork Producers for having the best grilled pork tenderloins in Iowa. Lunch is served 11 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday through Friday. No lunch on Saturday. Dinner is served from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday through Saturday. The Suburban is closed all day on Sundays and Mondays.
