Kids' Parade

Chris Hadaway of the Tropical Sno Cone Parlor and Game Room organized a kid's parade that began at the Packer Auto Body parking lot then proceeded down Main Street and ended up at the fire station. Chris opened the parlor and game room (the blue building on the left) this summer and plans to operate Main Street Catering from the facility. Thanks, Chris and all the parade participants. It was a fun event.

Model Airplane Activity

The Gilbert Gazette invited members of the Central Iowa Aeromodellers to fly their planes at the Heart of Iowa Soccer Club fields north of the high school ball diamonds. Thanks to Dennis Goodrich of Ames for organizing the activity and to all the club members who made the event such a fun and educational time (even if the crowd was small and the turf a little rough for take-offs and landings.) We sure hope you can come again. Some of the participants are shown below. Sorry about the shadows on the faces, but the sun was directly overhead on a very bright day.

Left to right: Dennis Goodrich (kneeling), Galen Crawford, Chad Netcott (guest), Steve Madsen, Don Sprague, Steve Netcott (guest). Other members of the Central Iowa Aeromodellers who participated were: Ray Peterson, Romaine Ranger, Brian Tibben, and Wayne Hauber. Chad and Steve are both from Gilbert and got a chance to actually handle the controls and fly a plane (with close oversight from a club member who also had a set of controls to make the take-offs and landings take over in case the beginning pilot got in trouble.)

We would be happy to list the identity of  more of the people in these photos. Send us an e-mail note, using the photo number for a reference, and give us the names of the people.
