1. What do you see as being the main issues facing
the Gilbert Community School District?

Expanding class sizes, construction of middle school, keep the high
quality of educataion our children are receiving.

In my opinion, the main issue confronting the school board in the next
few years will be the increase in enrollment and the need for additional
space to accommodate this increase. It is important to keep the current
quality and class size.

One of the main issues I see facing the Gilbert schools in the upcoming
years is how to handle the growth of the number of students attending the
school here and maintaining the quality of education they are getting by
maintaining optimal class sizes. Certainly we will need to look at the
options necessary to achieve this. One of these would be evaluating whether
constructing an additional building for the school is feasible from a
financial stand point. I feel we also need to maintain the best possible
administration through this time of growth and that this will need to be a
priority.

One issue is the continued need to stretch limited financial and personnel
resources of the district to strengthen the educational environment for the
benefit of all students. A second issue, enhancing leadership in educational
and administrative areas for future district development, requires clear
vision of the local assets available and potentials for outside
contributions.

A. State and Federal funding. Complying with and meeting the testing
requirements to continually qualify for funding.
B. Space constraints. We are blessed with a growing district, but we must
continue our vision of future expansion.
C. Maintaining the programs and extra-curricular activities that enrich a
student's academic experience and build self-confidence.
D. Continual "partnerships" between the administration,
teachers, parents, and students to achieve the most comprehensive academic
and social outcome possible for each individual
