10.What else would you want voters to know about yourself? (The answers can be either serious or light-hearted. A little humor never hurt any situation.)

I am as far from being a politician as anyone can get. I have one goal, and that is to do a good job for the students of Gilbert.

Rich Herrington
I will do the best job I can and will be very approachable to the parents, students, faculty, and administration in the school district.

Ellen and I have been residents of the district since 1974. I have been on the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine as Extension Veterinarian since 1974. I have been active in both Squaw Valley Associations (President of South Squaw Valley for 10 years). Ellen and I have four grown children - all graduates of Gilbert Community Schools and one grandchild. One of my reasons for continued activity in the school system is to foster improvements so that my grandchild(ren) will want to attend because of the high quality academic and extra-curricular activities available. Hobbies include travel, home remodelling (never ending task for the happy homeowner), college athletics spectator, and woodworking.

I am a "go-getter." I encourage my girls to do the same: "Participate in sports or other extra-curricular activities, " I tell them. By doing so, they interact with others while gaining new skills and self-confidence, hopefully preparing them to become successful adults.

I am involved in numerous committees where I work (Mary Greeley Medical Center); I participate in programs at my church, and I volunteer in activities and committees within our school district. Life is a journey that passes far too quickly for me not to partake of. I tell my religious education students that we can be like a pebble dropped in water, creating a ripple. As it spreads, the ripple changes and affects the water around it. I would welcome the opportunity to serve on the Gilbert District School Board. Regardless, I hope that I will always desire to drop pebbles….
